Joel Gibbs is a dedicated advocate and transit professional working to solve today’s pressing challenges and build a safer, more sustainable world for future generations. With a decade of experience working in sustainable goods movement and public transit, Joel possesses an intimate understanding of the challenges and opportunities to make our transportation systems more efficient, sustainable, accessible, and safe for everyone.
Joel’s advocacy is deeply personal. Shaped by their own experiences as a renter, they know firsthand the immense barriers created by a lack of secure, affordable housing. This lived experience fuels their vision for holistic community well-being, which extends far beyond physical infrastructure. Joel is deeply committed to fostering vibrant communities of care, improving social connection, and ensuring mental health supports are centred on care and respect for each person’s humanity and individual agency. A staunch believer in workplace equity, they have also been deeply involved in the labour movement, fighting to ensure every worker has the right to a safe, fair, and equitable environment.
