BUILDING A BETTER BURNABY
Closer to the election we will be updating this site with more details of our platform and priorities for the city and school board. Some of our priorities include:
HOUSING
- Support the affordable housing choices residents want, including townhouses, duplexes, co-ops, family housing, and purpose-built rentals.
- Double Burnaby’s inventory of purpose-built rental housing by 2050.
- Modernize zoning to encourage mixed-use communities with housing, market and non-market childcare, libraries, parks, and local businesses focused around corner stores.
- Promote attractive, environmentally sustainable development in Burnaby’s four Town Centres while expanding below-market housing
options
ECONOMY
- Help small businesses create jobs through faster, simpler licensing and permitting processes.
- Support all workers, including union members, gig workers, food service workers, taxi drivers, and migrant workers.
- Redevelop industrial lands with modern multi-storey employment spaces that balance economic growth and environmental stewardship.
- Attract innovative Canadian businesses in technology, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing to invest and grow in Burnaby.
ENVIRONMENT & TRANSPORTATION
- Expand the urban tree canopy, restore streams, and protect Burnaby Mountain, Burnaby Lake, and Fraser Foreshore Park.
- Ensure all streets have accessible sidewalks by 2035 and complete a safe city-wide cycling network by 2030 with free water stations along walking and cycling routes.
- Improve transit through more frequent service, better accessibility, sheltered bus stops, and public toilets.
- Invest in climate resilience through heat pumps, energy-efficiency upgrades, and accessible sheltering spaces during extreme weather
events.
