Biography
Jasmine Nicholsfigueiredo was born and raised in Vancouver, but has called Burnaby home for more than twenty years. She obtained a PhD in English from SFU and has had a long academic career as an Educator at Douglas College.
Jasmine has been the Chair of the Douglas College Education Council, and of the English Department. She is currently the elected First Vice President of the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC, and was recently elected for a third term as President of the Douglas College Faculty Union.
She is a strong supporter of labour, supporting faculty and effecting positive change in the work place with fairness, equity and inclusion.
Jasmine is the Chair of the Burnaby Community Safety Committee (Edmonds), sits on the Burnaby Safety Committee, volunteers with the Burnaby Neighbourhood House, is a member of the Burnaby Mountain Preservation Society, and sits on the executive board of the New Westminster District Labour Council (NWDLC).
Jasmine ran with the Burnaby Green Party in the 2022 election for Burnaby City Council, and ran as an independent for Burnaby School Board in 2018.
